Chicago Ridge is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 14,305 at the 2010 census.
Chicago Ridge is located at 41°42′9″N 87°46′43″W / 41.70250°N 87.77861°W / 41.70250; -87.77861 (41.702482, -87.778690).
According to the 2010 census, Chicago Ridge has a total area of 2.25 square miles (5.83 km), all land.
Located in Cook County, the village is 18 miles (29 km) southwest of the Loop. Chicago Ridge’s irregular shape is bounded by Oak Lawn on the north and east, Bridgeview and Palos Hills on the west, and Worth on the south.
As of the census of 2000, there were 14,127 people, 5,739 households, and 3,483 families residing in the village. The population density was 6,336.3 people per square mile (2,445.9/km²). There were 5,897 housing units at an average density of 2,645.0 per square mile (1,021.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 89.13% White, 2.44% African American, 0.23% Native American, 1.47% Asian, 1.96% from other races, and 4.77% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.25% of the population.
The top five ancestries reported in Chicago Ridge as of the 2000 census were Irish (25.5%), Polish (20.3%), German (19.1%), Italian (11.2%) and Arab (6.9%).
There were 5,739 households out of which 29.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.5% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% were non-families. 31.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the village, the population was spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 35.9% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $44,101, and the median income for a family was $56,314. Males had a median income of $38,464 versus $27,683 for females. The per capita income for the village was $20,278. About 8.1% of families and 10.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.5% of those under age 18 and 8.1% of those age 65 or over.
